With formal notice released by National ministry of science and technology research management center, Dean of Sinopoly Battery Research Institute Ma Zifeng is appointed chief scientist of national 973 project “Large capacity storage system based on super capacitor and its application” project (Grant No. 2014CB239700).
This is the second time that Professor Ma is appointed chief scientist of National 973 project by Ministry of Science and Technology. In 2007 through 2011, as the chief scientist, Professor Ma directed and completed “Basic Scientific Research Electric Vehicles with low cost and high density electric storage (hydrogen) system” project in National 973 plan, and achieved good performance in battery power new concepts, new materials, high-pressure hydrogen storage and battery management systems, and cooperated with the poly battery (HK: 00729) Ltd to set up SINOPOLY BATTERY Institute by the end of 2011, which makes important contributions to National 973 Plan.
Both projects are based on battery power, super capacitors and other electrochemical energy storage unit for electric vehicles, industrial energy storage applications to carry out two strategic emerging industries cutting-edge research, Professor Ma is also the first one in these two areas that has obtained national 973 Project Grant, chief scientist, which reflects he is recognized as a strategic scientist both domestic and overseas.
Poly Battery is mainly engaged in the development, production, distribution and sale of lithium-ion batteries and related products business, and the main application areas include electric vehicles and energy storage. Through continuous improvement officer Cooperative system, it will greatly promote the technological progress of China's two major electric vehicles and industrial energy storage field, and lay a good foundation for the sustainable development of poly battery.
This project joint the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, East China University of Technology, Institute of Poly batteries and other units. Approved by Ministry of Science and Technology, the project focuses on the new generation of industrial energy storage unit (super capacitors, secondary battery) for wind energy, solar power connected to the grid energy storage needs, the establishment of a number of super capacitor / battery hybrid energy storage demonstration system, put forward the scientific basis for a large-scale application of renewable energy generation energy storage methods and strategies, revealing the peaking benefits brought from the industrial energy storage system to the grid, which found a scientific basis to realize the effective access and promotion application in energy storage system.
